Nov 02, 2023

Carmelo Anthony has officially announced his retirement from the NBA, marking the end of the career of one Syracuse University's greatest basketball players, and an NBA icon.

Carmelo Anthony suited up in No. 15 for the Syracuse Orange in 2002-2003, helping the team win the NCAA Tournament as a freshman. He went on to be selected as the third overall pick in the NBA Draft in 2003 by the Denver Nuggets, and spent time with several NBA Teams, including most recently the Los Angeles Lakers, where he wore No. 7.

Fans can celebrate the career of Anthony with a No. 15 Syracuse Orange jersey or a No. 7 Lakers jersey, both of which are available to order online via Fanatics. Take a look:

Of course, Carmelo Anthony is also best remembered as a Denver Nugget, where he played until 2011, and as a New York Knick, where he played from 2011-2017. In Denver, Anthony wore his same No. 15 from college, before donning No. 7 when he later joined the Knicks.

Neither officially licensed jerseys are currently available on Fanatics, but you can customize your own jerseys with Anthony's name and number for both the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets.

There are plenty of great places to shop for Syracuse University apparel and sports gear locally, and if you’re in the Syracuse area, take some time and head over to Manny's, Scholars & Champs or the University Sport Shop at Destiny USA, and see what Carmelo Anthony gear they have in stock.

Anthony bid "a bittersweet goodbye" to the NBA in a nearly two-minute video circulated on social media. The future Hall-of-Famer said he was "forever grateful" for the fan bases that had supported his career.
